Antique American Federation of Labor Flour City Medal Pin

Antique American Federation of Labor Flour City Medal Pin

Good condition, however the chains holding the two pieces together are uneven. One side has 5 rings, the other has 4. Piece measures 3.25" in length and 2.25" wide.

This is a medal from the American Federation of Labor (AFL), founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 1886. The medal features the phrase "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" and the date Nov. 15, 1881, which may refer to an earlier organization that contributed to the AFL's formation. The AFL aimed to support craft unions and advocate for worker rights. It later merged with the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) in 1955 to form the AFL-CIO, which is currently the largest federation of trade unions in the United States.
